7 facts about yours truly

Posted by Chance on November 29, 2007

I was tagged by Lee to share 7 facts about myself. Give him a visit sometime. He’s a pretty fascinating person.

1. I’ve been married for four years to my wonderful wife.

2. I was raised by my grandparents for 12 years.

3. I once met “Big Country” Bryant Reeves at a family reunion.

4. I used to play with Bible action figures as a kid. I had David and Goliath, Samson and Delilah, Jonah and a big whale he could fit in, all the famous Bible people. I also had Jesus, but I pretty much left him alone. I didn’t want to do anything blasphemous.

5. As a kid, I watched way too much TV and didn’t read nearly enough books.

6. I played football for a year in high school. I was a pretty small kid. Most small kids are at least fast. I was not.

7. Seeing my baby boy laughing for the first time brought tears to my eyes.

I’m supposed to tag 7 people, but I will just do those that typically or may do these: I will tag those who typically do these: Josh, The Pachyderm, Neil, and John Kaiser.

Make your own all-star band

Posted by Chance on July 20, 2007

Lee is back to blogging, and he has a post where you can create your own all-star band, inspired by the previous all-star band the Traveling Wilburys. See his post for more details and rules. My dream band is (not sure about spelling on all):

Bono (U2)
Pete Townshend (The Who)
John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls)
Chris Martin (Coldplay)

I do realize that not every position is covered, as I am not sure any of these guys can play the drums. If I had to have a drummer, it would probably be the guy from Rush.

Be sure to visit Lee and participate.

5 things I haven’t mentioned before, that are not necessarily true

Posted by Chance on February 16, 2007

The previous post lists 5 things about me that are true.

1. My skullet is now shoulder length.

2. I survived the mean streets of Oklahoma through my mad rapping skills and my ability to solve non-homogeneous differential equations using infinite polynomials.

3. I think more people need to listen to L. Ron Hubbard.

4. I made Chuck Norris cry.

5. My favorite group is not U2, but the Zack Attack.

I tag Josh, and anyone else who wants to participate.

5 things I haven’t mentioned before

Posted by Chance on February 16, 2007

I was tagged by Josh. Some of his entries inspire my own.

1. Similar to Josh, a friend and I randomly drove from Stillwater, Oklahoma to Kansas simply because we were bored. I don’t remember what town it was. (Perhaps the seed of libertarian thought was planted. I saw a tattoo parlor over the state line and wondered why Oklahoma didn’t (at the time) allow tattoos)

2. Similar to Josh, I have slightly obsessive compulsive tendencies. Whenever I saw a number, I used to add up the digits to see if it was divisible by 3. I don’t do that anymore.

3. Whenever I talk about music on my blog posts, I mostly talk about U2. They are my favorite group, but I’m also quite fond of The Beatles. At least the music. I’m not into their new age philosophies and such. I think the White Album and Sgt. Peppers are brilliant (I tried looking for another word, as I didn’t want to sound like a pretentious person throwing around adjectives commonly used by Brits to describe things they like, but oh well).

4. I’m mentioned it on Josh’s blog, but not here, but I’ve known Josh since Kindergarten, and went to school with him 9.5 out of 13 years (and 3 different schools at that).

5. Most people know I’m a Christian, but specifically, I am non-denominational. Theologically, I am closest to Baptist, but I also believe in certain things emphasized by charismatic branches, such as the ability to speak in tongues, spiritual warfare, etc…

I tag, I suppose anyone who reads this and wants to participate.

1. One book that changed your life: The Book of Matthew

2. A book you read more than once: The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

3. A book you would want on a desert island: Probably the entire Chronicles of Narnia (I haven’t read it yet, but I am about to, and I figure I would want a long book) by C.S. Lewis

4. A book that made you cry: Hmmm, I don’t know if I’ve ever cried while reading. I suppose if there was a book called the Death of Cute Kittens, that would make me cry.

5. A book that made you laugh: SeinLanguage by Jerry Seinfeld

6. A book you wish had been written: Chance, Pinnacle of Masculinity and the Coolest Guy who ever Lived

7. A book you wish had never been written: I would agree with Josh and say the Koran.

8. Book I am currently reading: Keeping Your Wife Your Best Friend by Clarence Schuler.

9. Book I am planning on reading: Becoming One: Emotionally, Spiritually, and Sexually by Joe Beam. At least I think that is the one my friend is reading.
